Type 34: Eros with Aphrodite Swimming

This type seems to be restricted to coins of Ancyra in Galatia.

Aphrodite is shown swimming r., her head turned l., Eros (swimming?) beside her on the r., and below an anchor as a type parlant for Ancyra (αγκυρα, anchor). The city also struck coins of this type without Eros (right, reverse of a coin of Caracalla, photo by courtesy of Classical Numismatic Group, Inc., www.cngcoins.com).

Ancyra in Galatia, a coin of Septimius Severus.

Æ 32, as described above (Illustration from Bernhart).
